February 3rd 2023
14th February means many things to many different people – but one thing it certainly means to great numbers of loved-up couples, is an opportunity to celebrate all that makes their union so special.
If this describes your feelings about Valentine’s Day, you won’t need our team at Manthan to tell you this is an occasion that deserves to be marked in splendid style. But our own buzzy townhouse restaurant represents far more than style – it also epitomises a commitment to immensely rewarding Indian cuisine that is by turns both innovative and traditionally grounded.
Situated on Mayfair’s Maddox Street, Manthan ticks all the boxes for a special occasion restaurant. We can offer couples elegant and sophisticated surroundings entirely befitting this highly exclusive area of London’s West End, but also all the taste sensations that discerning diners have come to expect from our Michelin-starred chef, Rohit Ghai.
Whatever you wish for and expect from Valentine’s Day gastronomy, Manthan can offer it all. Our philosophy is one of professionally cooked dishes, that nonetheless embody all the flavour-packed verve of authentic Indian street food. It is an ethos that Rohit has gradually perfected over his hugely successful past decade shaking up the London restaurant scene.
Rohit and his business partner, Abhishake Sangwan, opened their first restaurant as a ‘solo’ venture – the hugely acclaimed Kutir in Chelsea – in 2018, and Manthan is one of their latest projects.
With its distinctive emphasis on sharing plates, cocktails, and mocktails – and its name meaning “to churn and reflect” – Manthan represents the perfect place in Mayfair to share in, and reflect on, you and your beloved’s love story.
And of course, our culinary delights are born out of an enduring love affair of their own – the one that Rohit has long had with the authenticity and diversity of home-cooked Indian food, going as far back as his childhood in Madya Pradesh.

Manthan is a reflection of chef Rohit Ghai’s life in food.
From the markets of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh (where he grew up) to professional kitchens all over the world, Ghai has experienced myriad flavours and cookery techniques, all of which come together in his new Mayfair kitchen.
